John O'Brien hails from Chicago, Illinois. He is a graduate of the Chicago Musical College, and has studied jazz guitar with Bob Becker and tenor banjo with Jerome Jelinek. He has performed as a free-lance musician at Marriott's Great America, and toured with the road show "Mariah". He spent 6 years in the 505th Air Force Band at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois.
