Casey MacGill plays boogie-woogie, swing and stride piano. He is a prodigious
scat singer, and is at home singing a range of material from the Gershwins
to Leiber and Stoller. In addition to piano, Casey may be the only R&B ukulele
player in existence. He also doubles on cornet and zydeco-style accordion.
Casey grew up in Southern California, majoring in music at Pasadena City College and
Cal State LA, studying with jazz greats Gary Foster, Warner Marsh, and Buddy Collette.
He formed the 30's swing trio "Mood Indigo", and toured in the U.S., Japan and Australia.
Casey MacGill has appeared on the Tonight Show, and in the movies "Frances" and
"Swing Shift". Most recently, he led the band "Casey MacGill and the Spirits of Rhythm",
which is known internationally through its award-winning CD "Jump".
